Eric Ensign - Metal Fabricator, Mechanic, and Body Technician

Third generation in the industry, I've had a passion for automobiles from the very start.  At an early age, I was working in the shop, sweeping floors and detailing cars. Even in my free time as a young kid, I would be custom painting and building my bicycles or tearing apart the 5 horse Briggs & Stratton engine on my go cart to get it running again. All through junior high and high school, I would work after school and weekends in the shop, and I was able to learn a lot from my father and the guys. As soon as I was done with school, I went to work full time. It was never a question what I wanted to do for a career, and I still wouldn't trade it for anything. I have learned skills including metal fabrication, welding, fiberglass repair, metal reshaping, filler-work, as well as paint and refinishing. My responsibilities around the shop vary widely to accommodate whatever jobs may roll into the shop. I take great pride in my work, and the finished product - no matter how big or small a job - will reflect that!

Billy Morrone - Metal Fabricator, Mechanic, and Body Technician

I got my first job when I was 14 working on a lawn crew at an industrial park. I graduated from high school early and have been working ever since. I've been at Ensign Autobody for more than 5 years now. My favorite project currently in the shop is the 1959 Porsche 356A that I'm working on. All of the interior panels and some of the exterior panels have to be replaced due to excessive corrosion however, replacement panels are not widely available and the panels that are available do not fit correctly. Consequently, this project involves a lot of metal work and fabrication. My favorite car that we've restored here at Ensign Autobody is a 1940 Ford, which can be viewed in our restorations and classics gallery. I learned how to drive 3 on the tree in that car, and made some really good memories. In the future I would like to make it big doing custom work or become a one off dealer.

Steve Quackenbush - Professional Autobody Technician and Detailer Extraordinaire

From an early age I knew I wanted to end up in this particular field. Beginning at Niskayuna High school, I took every technology elective they had to offer to further my skills in the field, eventually achieving a Certificate of Merit from the technology department in my senior year. Immediately after high school, I started at a car wash drying cars every day. I've worked my way up to managing the detail shop and quickly learned there was more for me at Ensign Autobody. I have ten years of detailing experience, and I have had hands on training from the well known detailing product line, Meguiar's. A representative from Meguiar's personally flew from California to train me on paint correction and interior detailing. In turn, I have extensive knowledge of leather and vinyl restoration, stain removal, and paint correction. This also includes dual action polishing, rotary polishing, wet sanding, and exterior nano coating. I would have to say my favorite car is the 1964 blue Jaguar MK2 that we painted a few years ago. The disassembly and reassembly intrigued me to learn more about classics and how they are constructed.  From here on, I will forever enjoy learning new things to achieve my goals.
